Warli Workshop at A.P.I.E.D, Vidyanagar

Warli Workshop 

Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design.

The College Festival was held on 7, 8 & 9th of February.  Studioverve was invited to conduct a workshop for the Architecture students.

The Festival was called 'Antiquity' this year 
the term means :An object, building or work of art from the ancient past.  Hence the focus was on learning an older form of traditional art.

A paste is applied to untreated coarse cloth and left to dry.

Anastasia Alexandrin and Deviba Wala, who gave the lecture and presentation on Warli. 

Students were told about the origin, significance, techniques as well as modern day variants and use of this ancient art. 


Warli paintings are an adivasi or tribal art form belonging to the Gujarat and Maharashtra region.
These paintings are simple yet unique and were used to adorn walls with images of everyday life. 
they are done with 'geru' and rice paste.
