Amdavad ni Gufa - Ahmedabad, India
Eleven contemporary artists displayed their work at the exhibition ‘Levitate’ organized at ‘The gallery’, Ahmedabad from 12th to 18th November, 2013. The display included paintings-oils, acrylic; printmaking-wood cutting, etching; sculptures-stone, metal; and mixed media work.
Sunil Nimawat's Wood Cut on Display
Sachin Dadhich's Sculpture in Mixed Media
Rokesh Kumar Singh's Stone Sculpture
The works of Rakesh kumar Singh and Sachin Dadichi explore the materials in interesting, unconventional ways. Sunal Nimawat’s ‘portrait’ combines the conceptual element and technique of woodcut beautifully.
Lalit Garg's Paintings in Mixed Media
Arpit Biloria’s abstract expression ‘intersectional void’ is an interesting play of geometric planes and positive-negative spaces.
Arpit Biloria's Sculptures in Metal
Margee Patel ‘s series of birds and especially ‘the swans ‘has captured the grace, beauty and delicacy of birds in the hard medium of stone.

Apart from the diversity of mediums what is remarkable is the diversity of approaches amongst the artists.  It will be interesting to observe these artists through their journey in the art field.

Showcasing works of Artist in Residence - Carol Miltimore

Studio Verve

presents

Viewing of Paintings by Artist in Residence

Carol Miltimore (Brooklyn, NY)

Date: 17th November, 2012
Time: 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
At: C-12, Gardencity, Near Greenwoods Lake Resort,
Vaishnodevi Circle, S.G. Highway, Ahmedabad
Carol Miltimore, Painter, Art Works, Ahmedabad, India, International Artist
In the past, I have been exploring the shapes and relationships of intersecting cellular shapes. The way in which they can be pressed and forced into each other as well as then the space left around them when in solitude as a point of comparison.
I have used these two weeks in residency to begin investigating the notion of islands as a jumping off point from previous work and their relationship to the cellular in shape and theory of isolation. It has also been a time to feel free to explore the use of color, infuse more emotion into the act of painting as well as the results, and to capture an idea and feeling with the paint.
After focusing on a certain density I am beginning to look for more spaciousness and freedom.
 ~Carol Miltimore

There is pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar.
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne’er express, yet cannot all conceal.
~Lord Bryon

The spaciousness and isolation, or lack there of, to be found in the solitude of cellular land masses floating in a sea of color.

Ahmedabad city. Art on the street walls

The Ahmedabad city street walls are awash with a roit of colours.
The A.M.C recently organised an event to paint the blank walls on streets in Satellite, Maninagar (Kankaria) and near the University Ground.

Artists & locals from the city, as well as Artists from Kutch were invited to paint.

People Stopping by to watch the artists at work.

An interesting range of styles adorn the walls.

It was great to see the space transform in a couple of days. The City definitely looks more lively and it's great that the public gets of daily dose of art as they drive by .
